“Leading with Well-Being”
A day designed to elevate leadership skills through hands-on training, peer connection, and strategy for the future of municipal building departments.
Leadership Day is a key annual event that brings together building professionals — from front-line staff and administrative teams to managers, CBOs, and future leaders. It’s a day dedicated to learning, collaboration, and meaningful dialogue on the issues shaping the building profession and the communities we serve.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from industry experts, take part in engaging sessions, and connect with peers from across the province. It’s a valuable forum for sharing ideas, exploring best practices, and staying informed on the latest developments in building codes, safety standards, and regulations.

This year, the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA) is once again proud to partner with the Ontario Large Municipalities Chief Building Officials (OLMCBO) to host this important event. Together, we’re creating an inclusive space where professionals can exchange ideas, address common challenges, and help shape the future of the building industry. Whether you’re new to the field, part of an administrative team, or in a leadership role — Leadership Day is for you.

Part 1: The Science of Stress Management & Resilience
Nina Nesdoly

This workshop equips leaders with science-backed tools to manage stress,
support one another, and build real resilience — without burning out. Participants will
learn how the body and brain respond to chronic stress, what resilience looks like in a
workplace context, and how to incorporate recovery and emotional regulation into the
workday. We’ll go beyond “self-care” to explore how teams and leaders can co-create a
culture that supports long-term capacity, resilience, and well-being.
Through a combination of science, story, and practical frameworks, participants will
strengthen their ability to manage stress and support others without overextending
themselves. Using interactive elements, small group activities, and personal reflection,
they’ll leave with immediate, actionable strategies to build a more resilient workplace.
